Learn how to setup and configure your Tobii Pro Nano eye tracker.

The Pro Nano is a small and portable eye tracker that can be used to conduct studies on laptops, PC monitors up to 19ʺ (16:9), mobile devices by using the mobile testing accessory, real-world interfaces, projections, simulators, and TV screens.

Check your eye tracker and computer requirements

Before starting to install and set up your eye tracker, you need to make sure that:

  • Your computer is compatible with the software you are going to use together with your eye tracker.
  • You have administrator rights for the computer you are using to be able to install and run the Tobii Pro Eye Tracker Manager application.
  • The screen used for presenting the stimuli has the size and form factor supported by your eye tracker.
  • You are using the right operative system. See the table below.
  • Your firewall allows access for the Tobii Pro Eye Tracker Manager application and additional eye tracking software.
  • Your computer has a supported USB port with the latest drivers installed. See the table below.


Table 1. List of supported operative systems, USB ports, and screen size. The eye tracker will use the USB port to interact with the eye tracking software installed in the computer and does not support other types of USB ports.

Now that you have checked that your setup meets the required specifications and downloaded the Tobii Eye Tracker Manager (1.11 or later versions), start your installation procedure.

The procedure is divided into 3 main steps:

  1. Installing the eye tracker driver and updating the firmware.
  2. Mounting the eye tracker on the display or setup.
  3. Configuring the eye tracker with the display.

Note: If you will be using the eye tracker with different setups/computers, be prepared to install and re-configure the eye tracker when you move to a new setup.

  • Using a new computer: check if the computer setup meets the requirements presented above, then follow the same procedures outlined in the driver installation, mounting and configuration steps.
  • Changing the display setup without changing the computer: follow the same procedures outlined in the mounting and configuration steps and skip the installation step.
