Tobii Pro Desktop Software System Requirements

Tobii Pro Lab and Tobii Pro Studio have been designed for research purposes. Therefore, you need to exercise tight control over your operating system and hardware to ensure good performance during stimulus presentation and recording. If you comply with our system recommendations, you can run and analyze most types of experiments with ease and good performance. You secure the performance by running our software on a dedicated eye-tracking computer that is free from all third-party applications.

Tobii Pro Lab and Tobii Pro Studio routinely perform very demanding calculations, so execution of some operations may take a lot of time, for example, calculating metrics for large projects, encoding exported videos, and running Real-World Mapping.

Additional recommendations

  • You avoid interference from other machines in the same network and negative timing effects by using a direct connection between your computer and the Tobii Pro eye tracker. Don't use extension cables, USB hubs, adapters, etc.
  • If you have dual screen setups with the T60XL, use a wide screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution.
  • If you have a multiple-screen setup, always use "extend screen", never "duplicate screen".
  • If timing is a critical factor in your experiment, check the Timing Guide for Stimulus Display in Tobii Pro Lab and Timing Guide for Tobii eye trackers and Tobii Pro Studio.
  • The FAQ section of the Tobii Pro customer portal provides details on supported codec packs for Tobii Pro Lab and Tobii Pro Studio, and explains how to set the Windows power plan to High Performance.
  • If you run experiments that utilize other biometric measures in conjunction with eye tracking, check the system requirements of any attached third-party equipment.
  • Tobii Pro Lab, Tobii Pro Studio, and Tobii Pro Eye Tracker Manager require a laptop or desktop computer; tablets are not supported.
  • Tobii Pro desktop software requires full administrator rights and does not support roaming profiles.
