Exploring media consumption to discover ways to promote reading – Stiftung Lesen

Stiftung Lesen (German Reading Foundation) is a non-profit organization based in Mainz, Germany, committed to promoting literacy in a country where 7.5 million adults have limited reading skills. The organization wanted to understand how young adults subconsciously read texts and consume digital media in different situations as they go about their daily lives.

Stiftung Lesen turned to Tobii Pro Insight to help develop a study of young people’s reading and media usage. By using wearable eye tracking technology, Pro Insight enabled them to see through the eyes of the readers and capture their authentic behavior. The organization will use the findings as a guide in their work to develop effective ways to promote reading.

“This type of study would not have been possible without eye tracking, because it’s the only way to look through the eyes of another person.”
